 What about e-mails? |
|
If you send us messages using the forms provided on the website, please note that your e-mails as well as the data you enter in the forms are still being transmitted without encryption technology.
When you communicate by e-mail, the data you have entered may possibly be viewed by third parties or even altered while on its way to us. We, for our part, cannot guarantee the protection of your data during transmission. In principle it is possible that unauthorized third parties (hackers, etc.) might intercept and read your data or even manipulate its contents. This can also happen without being noticed. The same applies if we reply to your inquiry by e-mail. Although the probability of a hacker intercepting your message to us and our response to you can be regarded as very low, at present we can only advise you to avoid communicating by e-mail if you want to rule out this risk.
If you send us personal data by e-mail, you do so voluntarily and on your own responsibility. Please let us know if you do not want us to respond to you by e-mail. Otherwise we assume that if you have contacted us by e-mail, you also agree to receiving a reply by e-mail. If we send you a reply by e-mail, in the interests of discretion we will not transmit any sensitive information and will couch the e-mail message in general terms. We will always send communications that are subject to data protection as a normal letter. We therefore advise you to send us your full postal address with every e-mail request so that we can reply by letter if necessary. If you send us an e-mail, your e-mail address will be used only for correspondence with you. If you want to send us an e-mail with sensitive content, we urge you to encrypt it to prevent unauthorized viewing and tampering during transmission.
To encrypt your message, you need a suitable encryption network. We use the Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) software, which can also be obtained free of charge over the Internet. Please use only this key to encrypt your e-mail, as otherwise we may not be able to read it.
We will soon make our PGP key available to you. Until then, please send us any important information by post

What about the security of the technology used during the transmission of my data? |
|
Personal data saved by EOS mercator are saved in secure operational environments and are not accessible to the public. In certain cases, e.g. when specifying your access data for the webaccount function, personal data are encrypted using secure technology before the transaction is carried out. Our servers use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to protect the transmission of personal data. This means that communication between you and the servers of EOS mercator takes place using a recognized encryption method (currently SSL Version3, 128 bit).
If your browser supports SSL, this function will protect the transmission of personal data. In this case, most browsers will tell you whether the SSL protocol is being supported by showing a small dialogue box or icon. You can find more information via your browser's help function. Nearly all modern browsers support SSL. If your browser has limited functionality and you are unable to use SSL, we recommend using the latest version of your browser.
|
Are my connection data being saved? |
|
EOS mercator saves log files during visits to the websites (e.g. your IP address, etc.). We use these data for anonymous statistical evaluations and to improve our online services by making the most interesting sites easier to access. For this purpose we also evaluate how users navigate around our sites. In addition, we process or use data after termination of the connection only insofar as it is necessary to establish further connections, possibly to detect telecommunication faults and to detect misuse of our telecommunications services. We also delete your connection data no later than the day following the termination of the connection.
|
What data protection rules apply to the debt collection process? |

When we handle debt collection contracts for our customers, personal data of debtors are transmitted to credit agencies. If our customers have questions about their collection accounts, we ask them for certain personal data in order to establish the legitimacy of the query.
